The Climate Change and Water Film Festival, a project of the Charter of Human Responsibilities and Global Citizens for Sustainable Development, visited ten university and college campuses in the US in spring 2009.
The aim of the film festival was to increase awareness and action regarding local and global issues around water.
The Charter of Human Responsibilities, an international project promoting action on our individual and collective responsibilities to one another and the planet, partnered with Global Citizens for Sustainable Development to bring the film festival to the US.
Nina Gregg, US Coordinator of CHR lead workshops on the Charter of Human Responsibilities and John made presentations on water issues and youth activism in Asia.
In addition to sponsorship from the Charter of Human Responsibilities and Global Citizens for Sustainable Development, the festival was supported through the generosity of the Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation, Television Trust for the Environment, and the China-India Forum. Additional films were donated by Sam Bozzo and Purple Turtle Films, Elizabeth Pollock and Blue Marble Productions, Oscilloscope Laboratories, David Novack - American Coal Productions and Appalshop. Each festival also had local sponsors.
Following campuses hosted the festival: Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH), American University (Washington, DC), Harvard University (Cambridge, MA), Brandeis University (Waltham, MA), The College of New Jersey (Ewing, NJ), Maryville College (Maryville, TN), the University of the South (Sewanee, TN), Ramapo College (Mahwah, NJ), Western Kentucky University (Bowling Green, KY) and the University of Chicago (Chicago, IL)
