GCSD organised its first pilot 'Climate Leadership Training Programme' on 23rd November 2008 at St. Joseph's College, one of the most prestigious colleges in Bangalore.

This training programme was supported by Sahaas, Center for Social Markets, and the Indian Youth Climate Network.

This programme could have only happened with the encouragment of the Principal, Fr. Ambrose Pinto who himself is very concerned how we can address Climate Change issue in the city, the country and across the globe.

The Coordinator, President and the members of the Center for Social Concern (CSC) and NSS took the leadership in mobilising the students from their college.

There were about 55 students and few faculty who were part of this Training Programme and at the end of the day all of them enjoyed the programme, had high level of energy and enthusiasm to do something in their college and in the city with regard to this theme.

All the participants took the Climate Challenge India pledge to...
- Educate myself and my organisation about climate change
- Determine my carbon footprint and reduce it
- Help vulnerable communities adapt to climate change as I can
- Support science-based and equitable policies and measures that will reduce national and international greenhouse gas emissions

At the conclusion, the feedback from the participants helped us to rework our training course and we are looking forward  to conducting many such programmes in Bangalore and if possible across the globe.
