Climate Change has emerged as the single biggest global issue confronting humankind this century. The adverse impacts of climate change are already being witnessed around the world, particularly on biodiversity, agriculture, water resources, rainfall patterns, seasons, coastal inhabitations, and high altitude communities. With global society consuming natural resources 25% faster than the reproductive capacity of the planet, we are operating on an ecological credit i.e. drawing upon the resources of the future to satisfy our current needs.

As a whole generation that will have to live with the risk of a changing climate, youth have a major stake in climate change mitigation. In particular, as the Kyoto Protocol approaches the end of its implementation period, the next few years will prove significant for any meaningful mitigation approach. In this context, we as youth will have to express their concern with different stakeholders through collective action and concerted effort as such dialogue barely exists in India, despite India being a major emitter of GHGs, and a preeminent player in the global climate regime. This level of youth mobilization and engagement already exists at the international level, with youth networks fostering leadership and dialogue on climate change.

This inter-collegiate festival first of its kind will bring awareness on these serious issues, empower many youth to participate in the global action and also have fun during their course of action beginning from this festival. On Saturday, 22nd November, the first day of our festival we will have events such as dance, western acoustic, collage, face painting, vegetable carving, treasure hunt, awareness generation, JAM, dumb charades, pictionary, debate and other such events as mentioned elaborately in the events column.

On Sunday, 23rd November, we will have a Climate Leadership Training Programme for those students interested to know more details about Climate Change and becoming a leader to make a difference.
